At LTL Galvanizers (Pvt) Ltd, we take pride in placing great emphasis on environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and employee development.
Environmental Sustainability
We actively engage in research and initiate projects aimed at reducing waste and minimizing energy consumption. By adopting innovative technologies and implementing sustainable practices, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint and contribute to a greener future.
As a part of this initiative, we have entered into a consultation agreement with the University of Peradeniya and conducted research on methods to recycle waste matter from our plant. The spent acid that remains after completion of the galvanizing process contains valuable minerals such as iron and zinc that can be extracted.
We have developed a system to synthesize nanoparticles of zinc oxide and iron oxide from this spent acid, and also developed a process to produce bricks for the construction industry from the remaining solids.
A new factory will be built to manufacture pigments using iron oxide, and a patent is pending for this process.
Social Responsibility
As part of our social responsibility initiatives, we believe in giving back to the community. We regularly engage in donation programs,
supporting religious causes and aiding those in need. Our aim is to create a positive impact and make a difference in the lives of people
around us.
- During the COVID-19 lockdown period, dry rations were distributed among affected employees, their families, and relatives who were unable to access supplies.
- We donated medical aid for the Divisional Secretariat office and Sapugaskanda Police personnel.
- We donated antimicrobial paint prepared in our own factory using synthesized iron oxide, to the Homagama hospital.
- As a part of our community service we have made donations to assist the upkeep of several places of worship: Mahamewnawa buddhist monastery, Thapodaramaya (Piliyandala), Siri Gauthama Viharaya (Siyabalape) and Malapalla Sri Sudarshanaramaya (Pannipitiya)
Energy Conservation Project
Sponsored by us, this project was conducted in collaboration with the University of Moratuwa
This included:
- Education of local youth on energy conservation and generation
- Surveying of the public on their perceptions of energy conservation, climate change and Sri Lanka’s energy mix
- Installation of electricity connections in 9 houses in Anuradhapura.
- Donation of funds for the wiring of a temple in Katukeliyawa, Anuradhapura
- Donation food supplies for 10 families that were helped during the project in Anuradhapura.
Tree Planting at Sinharaja RainForest
200 native plant species were planted in the Rakwana area bordering the Sinharaja rainforest. They included Mee, Milla, Kumbuk, Batadomba, Bedi Del, Yakahalu, Ketakela, Hora, Etamba, and Keena.
